Managing Principal of Sodoma Law recognized as going “above and beyond” for clients and community

Sodoma Law is delighted to announce that Managing Principal and Family Law Attorney Nicole Sodoma has been selected as one of just 30 honorees for the 2017 Leaders in the Law awards hosted by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly. Honorees of the seventh annual Leaders in the Law award are described as “the most influential individuals within our state’s legal community” and are recognized for going “above and beyond in their profession and community.”

Nicole opened the doors to Sodoma Law in 2008, with a focus on family law that has since expanded to include 13 attorneys in varying practice areas. Nicole’s own legal practice focuses on all issues related to family to include divorce, custody, assisted reproductive technology cases and domestic violence. Additionally, Nicole has gone above and beyond in her tenacious pursuit to help clients, and their families, overcome more difficult custody issues they may face by becoming certified as one of only thirty parenting coordinators in Mecklenburg and surrounding counties.  As a parenting coordinator, she is appointed by the court to serve as a neutral, helping parents to find resolutions that are creative and in the best interests of the children.

Outside of practicing law, Nicole serves her community as a thought leader and philanthropic powerhouse. Community involvement and charitable giving have always been important to Nicole and to Sodoma Law as whole. In 2014, she created the firm’s corporate giving arm, the Sodoma Law Foundation, with the goal of serving the community’s families and children. For example, Nicole currently serves as a Board Member for Good Friends Charlotte, a pro bono attorney and volunteer. She has had the opportunity to work with and supports many Charlotte non-profits including Safe Alliance, Pat’s Place Child Advocacy Center, Justice Initiatives and the Council For Children’s Rights.

North Carolina Lawyers Weekly assembles a panel of independent legal professionals to serve as judges for the Leaders in the Law awards. The honoree with the highest overall score from the judges will be recognized as Lawyer of the Year at the seventh annual awards banquet on Friday, September 15, 2017 in uptown Charlotte.
