As a team member at Sodoma Law, it is my mission to support and empower our network of professionals in achieving both their individual and collective goals. I am committed to navigating challenges with a positive mindset and believe in thoughtful collaboration to find meaningful and enduring solutions. I’m fortunate to be a part of this dynamic firm family where I have the rare opportunity to leverage the variety of experiences, knowledge, and skills I’ve gained along the twists and turns of life’s path.
As a young girl growing up in rural Virginia with a divorced, single mom and three sisters, being a team player was a fundamental fact of life: we rose to meet life’s challenges together, each doing our share and supporting one another along the way. My determination to build a solid future for myself led me first to college and eventually law school, where I gravitated toward courses in family law and real estate, earning my Juris Doctor in 1997. Following a one-year clerkship at the Court of Appeals in Raleigh, NC, I relocated to Charlotte to work for a litigation firm specializing in family law where I honed my skills as an attorney and in client representation.
As a lifelong learner always seeking new adventures, I would later go on to broaden my career path to include real estate sales. In both this role and in my role as an attorney, I found a common thread – success requires listening with empathy and compassion to discern each client’s distinct personality and needs. I indulged my natural curiosity for people and their stories and embraced the challenge of tailoring creative solutions to each unique circumstance, a talent that has come in handy more than once over the years. It is only apt I would one day find myself working for a company that lists “creative, fearless problem solvers” among its core values.
My strong work ethic, adaptability, and customer-service mentality enabled my success as an independent contractor and business owner. I was 100% accountable for my own success or failure, which meant learning to market myself and leverage my strengths was a must. Today I enjoy helping people identify and leverage their own strengths both as individuals and as a team to maximize results.
Married in 2003, my husband and I welcomed our first child in 2007. We spent the next six years battling infertility before finally introducing our second child to the world in 2013. Our tenacity and our faith in one another paid off and now, with a loving husband and two amazing children, family is the compass that guides my priorities and decisions. Highlights of our time together include neighborhood walks with our English Lab, adventurous travel, and cheering our kids on in their sporting events.
