A yellow post-it note above my desk reads: “Don’t expect what you don’t give.” This simple mantra has left a resounding impact on my life. It has guided me through law school, motivated me during marathon runs, strengthened my personal and professional relationships, and inspired me daily in my preparation for my career in family law. This mantra embodies my enthusiastic work ethic and unwavering ambition.
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, I have a personality larger than the Lone Star State itself. After graduating from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Arts in communication, I resolved to pursue my Juris Doctor at Wake Forest School of Law with the intention of advocating for families and children after graduation. I have volunteered with the Children’s Law Center of Central North Carolina and served as a Guardian ad Litem for Forsyth County. I furthered my interest in child advocacy by serving as the Project Coordinator for the Teen Court Pro Bono Project for two years. Sponsored by the Winston-Salem YWCA, Teen Court is a deterrence program in which juvenile first-time offenders may avoid a criminal record by participating in a mock trial run by Wake Forest law students.
In addition to my studies, while in law school, I served the student body as the elected Student Bar Association President and taught indoor cycling and Pilates reformer classes in the Winston-Salem community. Much like my unwavering ambition and work ethic, I recognize that hard work comes in many forms. This is especially true as I constantly strive to be my best self, both in and out of the courtroom.
Essential to Sodoma Law’s core values is our commitment to creative, fearless problem solving. My natural curiosity and positive attitude combined with grit and tenacity allow me to exhibit this value in both written and oral advocacy. I am prepared to roll up my sleeves and get to work so that I can best serve my clients, Sodoma Law colleagues, and our community.
